Epworth Kings Croft Plaque

Epworth Kings Croft Plaque prior to restoration

History to start with:

Kings Head Croft

The former site of the Kings Head Hotel and Croft.

The hotel stood the site from 1769 to 1975.

The Kings Head on Church Street was closed by John Smith's brewery in 1973  then  it was purchased by Epworth Parish Council who demolished it.

Kings Head Croft is now a site with trees and play equipment for young children.

Epworth Town Cllr Ros Wittaker asked us

Epworth Town Council at its Meeting on the 8th of August resolved that, The Shed  refirbish the plaque for material costs only. The Shed contributing labour as its commitment to the community.

Stripped bare problems revealed:

The plaque is not entirely flat and has  broken corner.  The paintwork was poor and flaking mainly due to the lack of primer to seal the aluminium when it was first painted

Broken Corner Now needs attention:

Work is complete, and the plaque has been placed back on its plinth at Kings Head Croft.

Shed Member Ian Campbell-Briggs and Cllr Caroline Finch Chair of Epworth Town Council hold the finished plaque.

Great work from the shed for the Isle community
